Emptiness and silence around you.
That's for me the countryside between the two big cities of Rotterdam and The Hague. Rural past under attack of urban progress.
Ackerdijk is a small protected bird area, only 8 miles from the center of Europe largest harbour Rotterdam.
Sometimes there is still a winter in Holland. Even snow may arrive. In summertime you get different whites.
Up in the North
there is more room for nature. You may even find deserted areas but signs to tell you where to go are never far away.
